“A state of consciousness involving focused attention and reduced peripheral awareness
characterised by a greatly enhanced capacity for the unconscious mind to respond to suggestion.”
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotic trance is a natural state
It’s actually an everyday state of mind – surprised?
We all experience hypnosis mostly without realising. For example: if you’re a driver, you will have certainly experienced being fully conscious of driving to your destination but not really remembering any of the journey details, the roads, the surroundings etc, maybe even missing your turn, that’s because you were actually in a mild hypnotic trance but still in full control of the car. It’s well documented and referred to as ‘Highway Hypnosis.’
There are many other examples, being ‘lost’ in a book, a movie or a piece of music. Being ‘miles away’ or not even hearing when someone is talking directly to you, all are states of mild hypnosis.
Hypnosis is a state of enhanced awareness
Your conscious mind, (where you ‘live’), sinks into the background during hypnosis and your unconscious, (or subconscious), mind, by far the most powerful part of your mind, opens up to the positive suggestions made by your therapist. It’s a bit more involved than that but that’s the bare bones of hypnosis.
These suggestions help people to make the permanent positive changes they desire in their lives, whether it’s to lose weight, stop smoking, deal with a fear or phobia etc that are not possible via their conscious mind. Permanent change can only happen in the unconscious mind. One highly respected practitioner once said, “hypnotherapy deals with your issues when everything else has failed.”
Hypnotherapy can be extremely effective in changing the mindset and many people have found success in finally breaking old undesirable habits once and for all. Hypnotherapy is also effectively used to increase confidence, combat low mood, self-esteem issues, public speaking etc, the list is endless.
Life & Past life Regression
Regression is an important therapeutic branch of hypnotherapy, it is a technique for accessing and re-experiencing your past lives. Some people like to try past life regression out of curiosity to see who they were in the past. But for most, its a path for personal growth and healing. With my help, past life regression can help you to identify, resolve and release past life traumas, fears and anxieties at the room of physical problems in this life.
Finally, I would like to bust a few myths
- Hypnotherapy is a serious therapy and nothing at all like stage hypnosis, (that’s entertainment)
- You cannot get ‘stuck’ in hypnosis
- The hypnotherapist cannot control your mind
- You are not asleep, you are fully aware throughout
- You cannot be made to say, do, or divulge anything against your will under hypnosis
